Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the world’s fourth-richest person, is set to wed Lauren Sanchez, a former TV anchor. According to some media reports, Bezos, taking lessons from his previous divorce, has this time very carefully crafted his prenuptial agreements and has drafted much stronger paperwork.

MailOnline reported that Bezos’s legal team was reluctant to let the wedding continue without having the prenup papers signed.

While the exact details of the agreements remain private, reports suggest that the papers likely include provisions for Bezos’s four children and generous alimony for Sanchez in the event of a split.

The agreements are also believed to include exhaustive financial disclosures, detailed asset separation, spousal support limits, confidentiality clauses, non-disparagement agreements, and protections for business interests.

According to Provinziano, a family law attorney in Beverly Hills, California, Bezos’s prenuptial agreements are some of the most complex papers they have ever seen.

One of the clauses mentioned that Sanchez cannot claim any hidden assets if things ever go wrong, reports said.

With Bezos’s net worth hovering around $223 billion, Provinziano estimates Sanchez could walk away with $1 million for every year they are married, plus possible property entitlements.

Bezos and Sanchez have reportedly invited about 200 guests to their multi-million dollar nuptials in Rome, which are expected to kick off June 26 and end June 29 with a ceremony at a secret location.

JEFF BEZOS AND LAUREN SANCHEZ’s PREVIOUS MARRIAGES

Bezos and Sanchez were married to other people when they began secretly dating sometime before 2019.

In January of that year, Bezos and his first wife, the publicity-shy Mackenzie Scott, announced their divorce, stating their intention to continue their “shared lives as friends".

In their divorce settlement, Bezos paid out $38bn to Mackenzie Scott.

Later, a three-year study by the Centre for Effective Philanthropy revealed that Mackenzie had given away more than $19 billion to more than 2,000 organisations.

Two years after their split, Mackenzie Scott married Seattle-based science teacher Dan Jewett in 2021.

It was reported that the couple first met at the school where Dan taught in Seattle and where Mackenzie’s children attended.

Bezos met Scott in 1992 while they were both working at a New York hedge fund. They quit their jobs to co-found Amazon in a rented garage in Bellevue, Washington.

A month after the split, Bezos publicly accused the US tabloid the National Enquirer of blackmail in an offer to prevent the publication of salacious photos and text messages with Sanchez.

He suggested the effort was orchestrated by Saudi Arabia, whose leaders were reportedly upset with how The Washington Post, which Bezos owns, covered the murder of its reporter Jamal Khashoggi.

However, Sanchez later revealed that her brother sold the phone content to the Enquirer for a reported $200,000.

With his new romance flourishing, Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon in 2021.
