A total of 141 assistive devices worth ₹9.08 lakh were distributed to 114 students with special needs from 11 Bhavita Centres in Visakhapatnam district under the Centre’s Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) scheme on Monday.

The programme was organised jointly by the School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha. District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore distributed the devices supplied by ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) to the beneficiaries. The devices included wheelchairs, tricycles, hearing aids, walkers, crutches and rollators, based on the individual needs of the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kishore said that the government was committed to the educational advancement, self-reliance and holistic development of students with disabilities. He urged students and parents to make effective use of the services and facilities being provided through Samagra Shiksha.

The Collector said no disability should become a barrier to a student’s talent and progress. Interacting with the beneficiaries, he encouraged them to focus on education and develop their skills further. He also advised parents to ensure regular use of the assistive devices to support their children’s mobility and overall development.
