At 97.2%, Delhi outscores national average

New Delhi: Delhi outscored the national average in CBSE Class X results this year, reinforcing its position among the better-performing regions in the country.With an overall pass percentage of 97.2% in 2026, the capital comfortably surpassed the national average of 93.7%, continuing its strong academic track record.

In the regional rankings, Delhi West secured the fifth position, while Delhi East followed closely at sixth, placing both regions firmly among the top performers nationwide.The improvement in Delhi’s results is also evident when compared to last year. In 2025, the overall pass percentage stood at 95.1%, which has now risen to 97.2%, marking a significant jump. Both boys and girls contributed to this upward trend, though girls once again outperformed boys.

In 2026, the pass percentage for girls stood at 97.6%, compared to 96.8% for boys. This continues the pattern from 2025, when girls recorded 95.7%, ahead of boys at 93.9%, highlighting consistent gender-based performance trends.The scale of participation in Delhi also remains substantial. A total of 3.2 lakh students registered for the exam in 2026, including 1.7 lakh boys and 1.5 lakh girls. Of these, 3,14,562 students appeared, and 3,05,787 successfully passed the examination.

Among them, 1,59,425 were boys and 1,46,362 were girls, reflecting strong outcomes across both groups.A closer look at regional performance within Delhi shows both zones delivering impressive results. Delhi West recorded a pass percentage of 97.4%, with 1,31,548 students passing out of 1,34,989 who appeared. Meanwhile, Delhi East was not far behind, achieving a 97.3% pass rate, with 2,04,628 students passing out of 2,10,238 who appeared.

The high success rates in both regions underscore the overall consistency in performance across the capital.Chief minister Rekha Gupta took to X to congratulate the students. “Today, the students of Delhi have held our heads high with pride through their excellent performance. This success of yours is the result of your hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment. This achievement also greatly credits the guidance of the students’ teachers and the constant support of their parents,” she wrote.She added, “Dear students, continue to maintain this energy, discipline and talent of yours in the same way, and keep moving forward steadily toward a bright future. Those students who could not achieve the success they desired this time should not feel disheartened. Make another attempt with self-confidence; success will surely come”.Experts said Delhi’s continued strong showing can be attributed to a combination of factors, including robust school infrastructure, access to quality teaching resources and a competitive academic environment. The steady improvement in pass percentages, alongside high participation levels, indicates that the city’s education ecosystem is not only expanding but also maintaining quality outcomes.
