Abhishek Banerjee sets Opposition's agenda for the Monsoon Session
Opposition leaders huddled together in a virtual meeting ahead of the Monsoon Session of, where Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee claimed that the Narendra Modi government was using both the Election Commission of India and the Enforcement Directorate to target INDIA bloc leaders, sources told India Today TV.
During the virtual meeting, the Trinamool Congress emphasised that the INDIA bloc should corner the Centre over the Pahalgam terror attack, the outcome of Operation Sindoor, and the Election Commission’s revision of Bihar’s electoral list ahead of the Assembly Elections, sources further told India Today TV.
“BJP is using E-square — ECI and ED. BJP is using the Election Commission to target voters and the ED to target Opposition leaders,” Abhishek Banerjee was quoted as saying by a source present at the meeting. After Bihar, he also expressed concern over similar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bengal ahead of next year's assembly elections, calling it a backdoor entry for the NRC.
The meeting was attended by 24 parties and top Opposition leaders, including Sharad Pawar, Hemant Soren, Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sanjay Raut and Omar Abdullah among others, were present.
