At least 60 students at State-run schools fall ill after taking meals

At least 60 students, in two separate incidents, fell ill after consuming their meals at State-run schools in the city on Friday.

The incident at Mandal Parishad Primary School, Chandra Naik Thanda in Madhapur, affected about 40 students. The students were rushed to the Area Hospital at Kondapur and the nearby private hospital for immediate attention.

It was reported that the students showed the symptoms a little after consuming their mid-day meal. It was also stated that the food at the school was supplied by the centralised kitchen of Akshaya Patra Foundation. The lunch included dal, potato curry, sambar and payasam.

In another case, about 20 students at Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society at Bagh Lingampally fell ill after consuming their breakfast. The students complained of stomach pain, and showed vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms. They were admitted to King Koti Government Hospital and Niloufer Hospital.

The students in both the incidents were declared stable and were being monitored.
