Where Other Metros Stand
In the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, Chennai stood out with a strong voter turnout of 83.74%, marking a significant level of civic participation. This contrasts sharply with Mumbai, where participation in the latest civic polls remained in the low-50% range, reflecting a persistent pattern of relatively low voter engagement. Bengaluru has shown a similar trend, with turnout generally hovering between 50% and 55% during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Delhi, while politically active, recorded turnout of around 60% in its 2025 Assembly election. Although higher than Mumbai and Bengaluru, it still falls well short of the much stronger participation seen in cities like Chennai and Kolkata.
