Attacks on Hindus rising under Congress rule, alleges Vijayendra

BJP state president BY Vijayendra and former CM and MP Basavaraj Bommai on Monday visited the residence of Shivaji Rao, who was killed after an assault

Haveri: BJP state president BY Vijayendra on Monday alleged that Hindus have faced repeated attacks since the Congress government came to power in Karnataka. He accused the government of being insensitive and claimed that its minority appeasement policies had emboldened communal elements.Vijayendra made the remarks after visiting the residence of Shivaji Rao, who was recently murdered in Rattihalli town. He offered condolences and financial assistance to the bereaved family before speaking to the media. He alleged that Shivaji Rao’s murder was not a personal dispute but part of a planned conspiracy. According to him, the victim’s son had been associated with the Bajrang Dal for several years, which he claimed was the reason behind the attack.

Vijayendra also criticised the government, saying that despite several such incidents in Haveri district, no minister had visited the affected families.Referring to minister Priyank Kharge, Vijayendra said that instead of speaking about issues relating to Russia, America and the RSS, he should ensure strict action against those responsible for the crime. He further alleged that Hindu activist Puneeth Kerehalli, who was involved in cow protection activities, had been targeted through false cases while those who allegedly threatened him were not acted against.

Vijayendra warned that if Bharat Shivaji Rao was evicted from his business premises, the BJP would launch protests. He also announced a demonstration in Haveri on July 16 under the leadership of former chief minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai to condemn recent incidents in the district.Bommai alleged that law and order had deteriorated in Haveri district and claimed the administration had lost control. He said there was a deliberate attempt to disturb communal harmony and alleged that such elements had gained confidence due to political patronage. Bommai claimed that no communal disturbances occurred during his tenure, whereas Haveri district had witnessed several serious incidents in recent times.
