Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.P. Raja Sekhar has called upon faculty members across departments to jointly pursue interdisciplinary research and apply for collaborative projects. Addressing academic staff at the Gautama Buddha Auditorium of the College of Engineering in the city on Thursday, he said that the university was considering a scheme to support faculty and researchers attending international conferences.
With the new academic year beginning, Mr. Raja Sekhar directed departments to ensure basic infrastructure, including smart boards, and to maintain cleanliness through dedicated sanitation staff twice daily. He asked each department to compile lists of leading journals and conferences, identify industry contacts for placements, and appoint coordinators to network with a media and branding office for wider publicity of departmental events.
He added that 32 applications had been received under the university’s recently announced start-up funding initiative, with financial support of up to ₹5 lakh to be extended to selected proposals.
Registrar K. Rambabu, principals, heads of departments and faculty members attended.
