Auto driver held for alleged sexual assault of minor girl in Kozhikode

The Kunnamangalam police have arrested an autorickshaw driver from Koduvally who allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a minor girl. The accused, K.P. Abdu Gafoor, was charged under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Wednesday.

According to the police, the incident took place on the evening of July 29 when the girl was waiting for bus at Kunnamangalam. The driver offered her a free lift and changed the route for the assault, they said.

In her petition, she claimed that the man fled the spot after abandoning her in an isolated place.

In a similar incident, an autorickshaw driver from Thalassery was arrested for alleged attempt to abduct a 28-year-old woman from Vadakara. The 40-year-old suspect was nabbed on July 29 on a complaint by the woman.
