Beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in Uttar Pradesh will no longer have to approach the State Health Agency (SACHIS) office in Lucknow for issues related to card approvals, rejections and disabling. These grievances can now be addressed at the district level.

According to SACHIS CEO Archana Verma, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasised ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of the scheme without unnecessary inconvenience and that services are delivered on time.

District Teams Given Technical Powers

All Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), Nodal Ayushman Officers and District Implementation Unit teams have been provided with special technical IDs.

Through these IDs, district-level officials will be able to handle technical processes related to Ayushman card approvals, rejections and card disabling locally. The arrangement is aimed at reducing the time and cost involved for beneficiaries.

Faster Claim Settlement

SACHIS said efforts are being made to simplify and speed up claim settlement and payment procedures. According to the agency, pending liabilities have largely been brought under control, with around Rs 500 crore remaining pending.

The average turnaround time for claim settlement and payment in Uttar Pradesh is around 57 days, compared with the national average of 73 days.

Online Training For Hospitals

The agency said claims are often rejected because hospitals do not submit complete documents or fail to provide them on time. To address this, SACHIS is conducting online training programmes to familiarise hospitals with claim submission procedures, documentation requirements and treatment protocols under Standard Treatment Guidelines.

The agency said the initiative is aimed at reducing claim rejections and ensuring quicker payments.

Action Against Hospitals Over Irregularities

SACHIS said around 200 hospitals have been de-empanelled during the current financial year for non-compliance with quality standards and other irregularities.

Around 300 hospitals have been identified over concerns related to upcoding or suspicious claims. Notices are being issued and field audits are being carried out.

The agency said strict action would be taken if irregularities are established and that only hospitals providing treatment according to prescribed standards would continue under the scheme.
