The untitled spy comedy featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan had reportedly been on pause after its first schedule wrapped in 2024. However, the project, produced by Karan Johar and
Guneet Monga Kapoor
, has now regained momentum. In February, the team carried out a major filming schedule in Mumbai, during which the lead actors shot for an elaborate song sequence.
The film is being directed by debutant filmmaker Aakash Kaushik.
Grand Independence Day-themed track filmed on a huge set
One of the highlights of the recent schedule was a patriotic number titled ‘Jai Hind’. The makers had initially planned to shoot the sequence at real locations in Delhi and Mumbai. However, when those plans did not work out, the team recreated the setting on a specially designed set at Madh Island in Mumbai. As stated by Mid-day, according to reports, the song ‘Jai Hind’ is designed around
Independence Day celebrations
in Delhi. The source shared that more than 700 dancers and junior artistes were brought in to recreate the scale and energy of an Independence Day parade.
It was also mentioned that Karan Johar and Guneet Monga felt a vibrant patriotic number mounted on a large scale would enhance the overall appeal of the spy comedy. The insider further revealed that the song appears at a crucial point in the narrative and that Ayushmann and Sara completed shooting the track within two days.
Final song shoot remaining before wrap
The film still has one sequence left before the shoot concludes. Reports suggest that the makers are planning to film an end-credit song before the director officially wraps up the project.
Following the completion of filming, the movie will move into post-production. The makers are currently aiming for a theatrical release sometime in mid-2026.
