Funded by the West Bengal government, the Banglar Awaas Yojana (BAY) is a housing scheme aimed at providing a pucca house of a minimum 25 sq mt floor area to individuals who either do not own a house, or live in a kutcha/dilapidated house.Beneficiaries are eligible for financial assistance of Rs 1,30,000 per house, which is credited in three instalments: Rs 60,000 in the first, Rs 60,000 again in the second, and Rs 10,000 in the third.They are also entitled to wages for 95 unskilled man-days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scheme, you must be an Indian citizen who does not own a pucca house.Your name must be listed in the Permanent Waiting List (PWL), the official list of those eligible for housing assistance, based on the data in the socio-economic and caste census of 2011.Documents required include your proof of residence, bank account details, and other required papers.
Application Process
The entire application process is offline. However, you must visit the website of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to check if your name is in the PWL. You must visit the official website, select the concerned district, block, and panchayat name and verify the captcha to check the list.You will already be considered for financial assistance if your name is on the list, as the government sanctions houses based on the priority list, every financial year. Eligible beneficiaries receive financial assistance directly in their registered bank accounts. There is no deadline for the scheme.Additionally, under the Mission Nirmal Bangla Prakalpa, beneficiaries enlisted in the baseline survey of 2012 can receive financial assistance for constructing a toilet.
