Bank Holidays 2025: On Thursday, May 29, banks in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh will be closed to mark Maharana Pratap Jayanti, which marks Mewar Rajput king, Maharana Pratap Singh’s birth anniversary.

According to the Julian calendar, Maharana Pratap was born on May 9, 1540. However, his birth anniversary is observed according to the Hindu calendar. As a result, his birth anniversary will be May 29, 2025.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandates bank holidays in India, which include the Negotiable Instruments Act, RTGS holidays, and various regional and national holidays, as well as the mandated workweek off on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
