Barcelona are nearing a loan deal for Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, with an option to buy. Rashford, keen on the move, has coach Hansi Flick's approval.

Barcelona are nearing an agreement to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on loan with an option to buy, according to a report.

According to The Athletic, the 27-year-old is eager for the move, and although it is not yet finalised, discussions are in advanced stages.

Barcelona view Rashford as a versatile forward capable of playing both wide and centrally, addressing a significant need on the left wing. Head coach Hansi Flick has already spoken with Rashford and given his approval for the transfer. The loan structure would help alleviate Barcelona’s financial constraints.

According to reports, Rashford’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, had been in the Catalan city last month for discussions with Barcelona.

Rashford was not included in Manchester United’s squad for the first pre-season fixture of summer 2025 as they face Leeds United in Stockholm on Saturday. New signing Matheus Cunha was also handed the number 10 jersey earlier in the month, almost assuring a move away for Rashford.

What Happened To Marcus Rashford At Manchester United?

Marcus Rashford, who fell out of favour at Manchester United last season, is not expected to be part of Erik ten Hag’s plans moving forward. The club is actively seeking a solution to move the forward away this summer.

The second half of last season saw Rashford loaned out to Aston Villa, and another loan move has not been ruled out as United aim to reduce their wage bill and reshape their squad.

Since December last year, the Portuguese manager has included Rashford in just one matchday squad and moved on loan to Aston Villa, scoring four goals in 17 games before a hamstring injury prematurely ended his season.

Rashford had been linked with AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur and even rivals Liverpool.

The United academy graduate has made 426 appearances for the club and scored 138 goals since his debut in 2015.
