Basic life support training programme conducted for cops in Nilgiris

UDHAGAMANDALAM: Ooty Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday conducted a basic life support training programme for police. More than 35 cops from various police stations in the Nilgiris district participated in this certification training.

The programme, an initiative by the state govt, was headed by Ooty GMCH dean Dr Geethanjali.Resident medical officer Dr. Ravishankar said training included hands-on instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques and emergency protocols using manikins. “The programme covered a variety of topics, including trauma management, head injury management, cervical spine management, bleeding control, disaster management, care for amputated parts, heart attacks, snakebites and poison first aid as well as communication with emergency services like 108,” Ravishankar said.Additionally, cops were given training on patient mobilization. “Training sessions will be conducted for various govt and private departments, school teachers, students and the general public at the Ooty GMCH on the fourth Thursday of every month”, the resident medical officer added.
