Battery downgrade? Xiaomi 17 Global version may differ from China variant

New Delhi: Xiaomi has recently reported that its is gearing up to unveils one of its Xiaomi 17 series in global markets in the coming weeks. According to some sources, the global variant could feature a battery that is around 10% smaller than the Chinese variant. The device is also been expected to debut in India along with the global rollout. Xiaomi 17 series was debuted in China in September. Aside from the battery and the storage change, the global version is likely to retain most of the same specifications. The global variant of the Xiaomi 17 could features with the 6,330mAh battery, which is roughly 10% smaller than the Chinese variant 7,000mAh unit.

Xiaomi has expected to retain the same charging speeds, the device might support 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, and it is powered by the company’s proprietary HyperCharge technology. Xiaomi 17 is expected to equipped with the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The global markets, Xiaomi is been likely to keep the lineup simple, by offering two memory configurations both with 12GB of RAM and 512GB internal storage. Higher-end options are available in China, including the 16GB RAM variants and a 1TB storage model, which might not be introduced globally.

Xiaomi has not yet shared any official details about the debut date of the device, but the reports suggested that the premiere is been expected to happen in the coming weeks. Both the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be debut in Europe before the beginning of the Mobile World Congress 2026 on March 2.

Xiaomi 17 in China features a 6.3-inch OLED display with 120Hz of refresh rate. For cameras, the device includes Leica-supported triple rear camera setup, including the 50MP primary Light Fusion 950 sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra-wide camera sensor. On front, there might be 50MP front facing camera sensor for selfies and video calling. Xiaomi 17 ships with the Android 16 based on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3.0 interface.
