Bavaria, Telangana mull AI and Quantum Tech partnerships

Hyderabad: Bavaria’s vice minister for economic affairs, regional development and energy, Tobias Gotthardt, met Telangana IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu in Hyderabad on Friday to explore investments and partnerships in frontier technologies, including artificial intelligence and quantum computing.The high-level talks focused on long-term collaboration in research, innovation, global capability centres, advanced manufacturing, financial engineering and digital infrastructure.The Bavarian delegation included German consul general Michael Hasper, honorary consul of Germany in India Amita Desai, Ulrike Hoffmann of the Bavarian economic affairs ministry, John Kottayil of the Bavaria India Office, and senior govt and industry representatives.

Telangana officials Sarvesh Singh, CEO of Telangana Life Sciences, and Sai Krishna, IT advisor , also attended.Sridhar Babu said Telangana was building a globally competitive ecosystem anchored in AI, digital infrastructure and deep-tech innovation.“Artificial intelligence and quantum computing will shape the next phase of global innovation and economic growth,” he said, inviting Bavarian companies and research institutions to invest and collaborate in the state.

Hasper urged German companies considering India to look at Hyderabad as a preferred investment destination, citing its innovation ecosystem, skilled workforce and business-friendly policies.Gotthardt called Hyderabad “India’s economic powerhouse” and said Bavaria wanted deeper regional ties with Telangana.The discussions also highlighted the strong economic relationship between Bavaria and India. About 300 Indian companies operate in Bavaria, while more than 400 Bavarian firms are present in India. Bilateral trade between Bavaria and India stands at €4.4 billion. A follow-up delegation of Bavarian industry leaders is expected to visit Telangana to pursue investment opportunities and partnerships.
