Bayern Munich Brazil’s X administrator shared a funny post on the social media platform after Germany defeated Curacao 7-1 at the FIFA World Cup on Sunday, June 14 and the post has garnered millions of views.

Many have started drawing comparisons with the infamous 2014 FIFA World Cup semifinal, when Germany dismantled Brazil before going on to lift the trophy. The similarity in scoreline has revived memories of that historic thrashing.

Many on social media were quick to draw parallels between the two games, including the Brazil account of FC Bayern Munich. The club’s social media team joined in with a humorous meme, captioned: “When Germany win 7-1, but you are the admin of FC Bayern Brasil."

They were far from the only Brazil-related accounts to make the connection. Multiple media outlets in the nation also referenced the painful memories of 2014, with Brazilian sports outlet Globoesporte posting, “Here they are again," in a nod to Germany’s latest 7-1 win.

Curacao, the smallest country by population ever to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, made a bright start against four-time champions Germany in Houston as Livano Comenencia scored an early equaliser to register the Caribbean nation’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal.

The strike sparked celebrations among the country’s 160,000 residents and marked a historic moment in Curacao’s footballing journey.

But they were soon outclassed as Felix Nmecha opened the scoring for the Germans and Kai Havertz grabbed a goal in each half, including a penalty.
