New details have emerged in the Amravati sex abuse and blackmail case, with the alleged mastermind Ayaan Ahmed reportedly telling investigators that he “became a playboy" after his first breakup.
The accused made the remark casually during questioning. A senior officer said the case appears to stem more from a “certain teenage mindset and lifestyle choice rather than a mental health issue," the Times of India, reported.
Investigations have revealed that Ayaan Ahmed ran a successful cellphone business and also earned through paid promotions on Instagram, where he had around 18,000 followers.
However, he would borrow money from friends and family. He used these funds to sustain a “promiscuous lifestyle", splurging on girls and maintaining an extravagant social image.
Police said his flashy social media presence played a significant role in targeting women. Ayaan would connect with girls online and gradually build trust over four to five months. Once a sense of familiarity was established, he allegedly began seeking sexual favours or coercing them into such activities.
Bet Between Two 19-Year-Olds
Police said Ayaan was not acting alone and carried out the acts with his friend, Uzer Khan. What initially began as the quiet circulation of explicit videos has now escalated into a major criminal probe. Authorities believe a fallout between two teenagers brought the matter to light, exposing an alleged network involving sexual exploitation and blackmail of minor girls.
According to details reported by the TOI, the two accused, Ayan Ahmed and Uzer Khan, were initially engaged in a troubling rivalry, allegedly competing over who could “win over" more girls.
Investigators said what started as a bet quickly turned into a pattern of exploitation, with intimate encounters allegedly recorded and later used to coerce victims, and some of the material reportedly uploaded online.
Bulldozer Action
Meanwhile, authorities have intensified their crackdown, with civic officials demolishing portions of the 19-year-old accused’s residence even as the police probe widens.
Acting on prior notice, the local administration carried out a bulldozer action on Wednesday, April 15, at the house of Ayan Ahmed Tanveer Ahmed, who was arrested earlier this week. The demolition came amid mounting public outrage and a parallel police investigation into what officials describe as a cyber-enabled sexual abuse racket involving minors, said a report by The Times of India.
The accused, also known as Mohammad Ayaz, was initially taken into custody following the circulation of objectionable videos on social media. He was later produced before a court and remanded to police custody till April 21.
Investigators said the case came to light after numerous explicit videos began circulating online, prompting alarm and immediate cyber surveillance. Police initially flagged around 100 such videos, but further analysis has so far confirmed 18 videos and 39 images directly linked to the accused.
