The de-induction process of central armed police forces in West Bengal has commenced with polling set to conclude while officials confirm that nearly 2,500 companies had been deployed across the state during the election period.

According to an official communication issued by the State Force Coordinator, the first phase of de-induction will prioritise sending companies back to sensitive operational zones, including Jammu, Srinagar, and Manipur. This initial movement is aimed at redeploying forces to regions with ongoing security requirements before the full withdrawal from Bengal is completed.

The document further details that 230 companies of CRPF will be de-inducted in phases, along with 388 companies of State Armed Police (SAP), while the remaining units will be withdrawn subsequently. The deployment spanned key districts such as Kolkata, Barasat, Baruipur, Sundarban, Diamond Harbour, and Krishnanagar, highlighting the scale of election security arrangements.

For the return journey, most CRPF units will travel by train from major boarding points including Sealdah, Howrah, Dankuni, and Santragachi after polling concluding on April 29. Several companies are specifically earmarked for sectors like Jammu and Srinagar, as reflected in deployment and movement schedules in the official plan. Meanwhile, SAP units from states such as Bihar, Jharkhand, and Sikkim will largely move by road to their respective destinations.

Authorities have directed district administrations to provide vehicles and logistical support in line with Election Commission guidelines to ensure smooth transit of personnel. Coordination between civil authorities, railways, and security agencies is being closely monitored.

Officials emphasised that the phased de-induction will help maintain stability while gradually scaling down the heavy security presence. The process is expected to continue over the next few days until all deployed companies have been successfully withdrawn and redeployed as required.
