As lover 'drifted back' to ex, woman staged intimate game, then turned it into murder trap

Jealousy over her boyfriend reconnecting with his ex-girlfriend fueled a brutal murder in Bengaluru.

BENGALURU: A day after the brutal killing of a 29-year-old man in Bengaluru, police have uncovered a chilling motive, jealousy and rage after the victim allegedly grew close to his former girlfriend. The accused, 27-year-old Prema, is said to have lured Kiran LN to her residence in Anjananagar on Tuesday, where she staged an intimate BDSM role-play before turning it into a deadly trap in what investigators describe as a cold and calculated murder. Police said the two were colleagues at a mobile service store in Rajajinagar and had been in a relationship. While Prema was keen on marriage, Kiran had reportedly begun to withdraw, triggering frequent tensions between them. The situation escalated after Kiran allegedly reconnected with his ex-partner and celebrated her birthday. Photographs of the celebration, found on his phone, are believed to have angered Prema and pushed her into emotional turmoil.

Police said she then began planning the murder, procuring petrol, kerosene and rope in advance. Under the pretext of meeting him alone, she called Kiran to her house, where the crime was carried out.

According to a complaint filed by Kiran’s father, Narasimhaiah, he received a call informing him that his son had been killed and rushed to Bengaluru. At the spot, he was told by the building owner and neighbours that Prema had run out seeking help as a fire broke out inside the house. Residents tried to douse the flames using buckets of water, but when they failed to control it, police and fire services were alerted. During questioning, Prema allegedly confessed that repeated disputes and her fear that Kiran would marry someone else drove her to plan the murder. She also told police she had contemplated suicide, but backed out after witnessing Kiran’s final moments.
