Bike-borne miscreants attack, rob 2 women of gold chains

In Bengaluru's Hosakerehalli, two homemakers were robbed of gold chains worth Rs 3.9 lakh by bike-borne assailants

BENGALURU: Two bike-borne miscreants robbed two homemakers of their gold chains — worth Rs 3.9 lakh — and attacked one of them with a machete while they were on their way to attend a music event organised as part of Ganesha festival celebrations.

This happened at Hosakerehalli, Banashankari III Stage, Saturday night.Usha BM, a resident of Hosakerehalli, told police she and her friend Varalakshmi, a resident of Banashankari III Stage, decided to attend the event near a school in the locality.

When they were walking to the venue around 9pm, a man riding a Bajaj Pulsar passed them. The rider saw the road was blocked for the event and took a U-turn. He and the pillion rider crossed the women again and stopped the bike at some distance.

The pillion rider, wearing a helmet to cover his face, a jacket and jeans, walked towards the women and threatened to attack them with a machete, demanding they part with their chains. Before the women could react, the miscreant snatched Usha's mangalya chain. When he tried to do the same with Varalakshmi's, she held on to it tightly. The miscreant then struck at her hand with the machete twice and robbed the chain. When the injured women started crying for help, the miscreants fled the spot on their bike. Police said they have been captured on multiple CCTV cameras and on a resident's mobile phone.Usha's chain weighed nine grams, while Varalakshmi's was 45 grams.
