A businessman from Bengaluru and his son, a member of the BJP Yuva Morcha, were kidnapped and murdered in Andhra Pradesh in what police believe was a premeditated attack.
Veeraswamy Reddy and his son Prashanth Reddy, residents of Kadugodi in Bengaluru, had travelled to Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district to attend a court hearing in connection with a cheque bounce case. The incident took place near the district court in Narasaraopet on Tuesday.
According to local police, the two were abducted by unidentified individuals near a tiffin centre close to the court premises. Their throats were slit, and their bodies were later found dumped near Santhamaguluru in the neighbouring Bapatla district.
Prashanth Reddy was known to be an active member of the BJP Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the party. The nature of the assault suggests the attack was carefully planned and carried out with intent to kill.
Police in both Palnadu and Bapatla districts have launched a joint investigation. The motive for the murder remains unclear, and authorities are in the process of identifying the suspects and tracking the vehicle used in the kidnapping.
