The Commissioners of Bengaluru East and North City Corporations have directed officials to step-up civic initiatives, focusing on encroachment clearance, flood prevention, and infrastructure upkeep.
Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner Ramesh D.S. instructed officials to clear encroachments on lakes and stormwater drains, noting that 46 lakes fall under the corporation’s jurisdiction. He ordered eviction drives where legal proceedings are complete and ordered surveys to identify major drain encroachments.
The Commissioner also ordered the removal of dry and hazardous trees and trimming of low-hanging branches. The Horticulture Department has been tasked with maintaining 38 public parks and roadside medians.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar inspected ongoing works near the Hebbal flyover and instructed NHAI to ensure flood-free infrastructure.
He also oversaw sanitation drives and safety gear distribution to pourakarmikas and reviewed operations at the Indira Canteen in Dasarahalli.
