As part of an Anti-Narcotics Drive aimed at preventing the manufacture, storage, transportation, and sale of narcotic substances, Bengaluru East Division Police inspected 45 chemical manufacturing units, 165 workshops, and 116 warehouses within their jurisdiction.
This comes close on the heels of the Narcotics Control Bureau claiming to have unearthed a clandestine lab manufacturing synthetic drugs under the garb of running a unit producing phenol in Mysuru’s industrial area.
Bengaluru’s East Division Police conducted station-wise inspections and verified records, storage practices, and operational activities of the establishments. During the operation, owners and managers of the inspected units were clearly warned that stringent legal action would be initiated against anyone found involved in illegal narcotic-related activities. The police stated that such inspections will continue as part of sustained efforts to curb drug-related offences and ensure public safety.
A similar drive was carried out to prevent incidents of theft, robbery, and other crimes targeting jewellery shops. As part of the drive, 228 jewellery shops were inspected across the East Division. Police interacted with owners and discussed the importance of CCTV camera surveillance, alarm systems, access control, and coordination with local police stations.
Police said the initiative was aimed at strengthening preventive measures and enhancing coordination between jewellery shop owners and the police to ensure public safety. Such inspections will continue periodically, officials added.
