Finance Minister announces Rs 5,000 crore per region for seven city economic regions like Bengaluru, Surat, Varanasi, aiming to boost urban growth, real estate, and infrastructure.

In a push to boost urban growth, the government will set up seven city economic regions, including Bengaluru, Surat and Varanasi, with Rs 5,000 crore allocated per region over five years.

While presenting the Union Budget, FM Nirmala Sitharaman called cities the engines of India’s growth, innovation, and opportunity.

The budget proposes allocations for seven city economic regions including Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar-Puri-Cuttack, Coimbatore-Erode-Tiruppur, and Pune.

In the Budget, the government has proposed over Rs 2,000 crore for two new schemes CERs and Regional Medical Hubs.

The allocation has also been proposed for Surat, Varanasi, and Vishakhapatnam.

The government expects the move to boost real estate, logistics, and infrastructure growth in the medium term.
