The Yeshwantpur Traffic Police have booked six persons, all minors, for allegedly obstructing the free passage of an ambulance by performing dangerous stunts and riding recklessly on a busy road.
According to the complaint lodged by Bheemappa Jattennavar, traffic police officer, the incident occurred near the MEI Junction in Yeshwantpur on July 4 at around 2.30 a.m.
The accused allegedly performed wheelies and other dangerous manoeuvres, disrupting traffic and preventing an ambulance, which was carrying a critically ill patient, from heading towards the hospital for emergency medical care.
Based on a complaint lodged by the ambulance driver, the Yeshwantpur Traffic Police swung into action. With the help of CCTV footage, the police zeroed in on one of the accused, a 17-year-old who was riding pillion and recording the video.
Based on his information, the police detained five others and seized the bikes. The accused are working at a garage, coffee vending shop and fish mart. One among them is a student. The police have summoned the owner of the bikes for questioning and for further legal action while the accused have been handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board for counselling.
