BENGALURU: A 34-year-old man allegedly hacked to death his mother, grandmother and brother-in-law with a sharp weapon before dying by suicide on Saturday morning in Kottigepalya, under the Kamakshipalya police station limits, police said.According to police, the accused, identified as Prashant, a driver by profession, allegedly attacked his mother, Mangalamma (55), a garment factory worker, his grandmother Nanjamma, and his brother-in-law Satish with a machete at their residence.No suicide note was recovered from the spot, police said.Citing the preliminary investigation, a senior police officer said Prashant was reportedly suffering from mental health issues. According to police, after allegedly hacking his mother, grandmother and brother-in-law to death, Prashant is believed to have died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside the house. His body was later found by police after they reached the residence.According to news agency PTI, police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events, the circumstances leading up to the deaths, and the motive behind the incident.Authorities said further details would emerge after the investigation progresses.(With agency inputs)
