The Kalasipalya police have made fresh arrests in connection with the case where city police recovered explosive gelatin sticks and detonators outside the toilet at Kalasipalya bus stand in Bengaluru. Two more accused, who are allegedly part of the racket supplying gelatin sticks and detonators illegally, have been arrested, the police said.
The duo, identified as Shiva Kumar, 31, and Naveen, 33, from Kolar, used to procure the explosives from their source and sell them to the people involved in illegal stone quarrying and digging wells, and confessed to having sold it to many people earlier.
With this arrest, the number of accused arrested in the case has reached five, and the police are investigating to ascertain their source of explosives which is suspected to be from the neighbouring State.
The police had earlier arrested three labourers, namely Ganesh, Muniraju, and Shivakumar, who were carrying six gelatin tubes and 12 detonators, which they attempted to carry from Kolar to Kollegal by bus. They were told to hand over the explosives to their contacts in Kollegal. However, the accused wanted to use the washroom while at the Kalasipalya bus stand on July 23, but they mistook bus drivers and conductors in khaki uniforms as police personnel and fled the scene abandoning the bag containing explosives.
The police recovered the explosives and detonators and registered a case under the Explosive Substances Act, 1908.
