The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) has clarified that tenant beneficiaries receiving free electricity under the State government’s flagship Gruha Jyothi guarantee scheme do not need to worry about the ongoing door-to door-verification drive that began on July 2.
In its release, the Bescom stated, “Many tenants expressed apprehension that they would lose the benefits of the scheme due to Aadhaar details of the previous tenants connected to their electricity bills.”
The Bescom clarified that during the ongoing verification drive, its staff would only replace the Aadhaar details based on current occupancy.
