Who does Lamine Yamal think is football's greatest?

Spanish forward Lamine Yamal has described Lionel Messi as the greatest player in football history, saying there should be no debate about the Argentine's place in the game. At the same time, the 18-year-old revealed that his personal idol is Neymar.Speaking to RTVE, as quoted by FotMob, Yamal said Messi's performances continue to prove why he stands above everyone else."Every match proves he's the best in history. If anyone has doubts, it's because they're looking for them," Yamal said. "There's nothing more to say. My idol is Neymar, but Messi is the best," Yamal added.Yamal's comments came after Messi led defending champions Argentina to a 3-0 win over Saudi Arabia at Kansas City Stadium on Wednesday. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner scored a hat-trick in that match to take his World Cup tally to 16 goals, drawing level with Miroslav Klose as the joint-highest scorer in World Cup history. At 38 years and 357 days, Messi also became the oldest player to score more than once in a World Cup match, breaking the previous record held by Roger Milla, who was 38 years and 34 days old when he set the mark. The Argentina captain has now scored in five different World Cups, becoming only the second player to achieve that feat after Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite those milestones, Yamal maintained that there is no discussion to be had over who is football's greatest player. The Barcelona youngster also spoke about his own fitness after recently returning from a hamstring injury. Yamal made his comeback in Spain's 0-0 draw against Cape Verde, playing 25 minutes in his first appearance since April 22.While he remains available for Sunday's World Cup match against Saudi Arabia, Yamal said he is still working his way back to full fitness and does not want to rush the process."I'm fine, I'm feeling good, but it's too soon, it's unnecessary; I'm still settling in," Yamal said, as quoted by FotMob."It's not the right time to play a full match yet - but I can play for as many minutes as the manager wants. I want to be on the pitch; at the end of the day, even if you know you can't play for 90 minutes, you always want to get out there and help the team," the Barcelona star added.
