“Better than London!” British tourist’s Delhi Metro video has the internet buzzing

A British tourist’s first ride on the Delhi Metro has turned into a feel-good moment for desi internet users. The traveller recently shared a video of his journey through the capital’s metro system, and his genuine surprise at how affordable, clean, and well-organised it was quickly caught people’s attention online. Posting on Instagram, travel creator Rory Porter documented his experience while travelling on the Blue Line in Delhi. From walking into the station to settling into the coach, he filmed his reactions in real time. What stood out to him the most, though, was the ticket price. “For a 30-minute ride, it’s only ₹43,” he said in the video, clearly taken aback. Converting it to pounds, he called it “incredibly cheap” and added that it was one of the most affordable metro rides he’s experienced anywhere in the world.

He added, “There are plenty of seats. No one is really standing up. This could be one of the best ones I have been on in the world. Very efficient, lots of stations. Better than London. Very nice, all air-conditioned, very clean, very modern.

” He also noticed how the entry process felt similar to an airport, with security checks and bag scanning before passengers are allowed onto the platform. According to him, this made the whole system feel more structured and safe.

When the train pulled in, Porter pointed out how modern the coaches looked and how well-kept everything seemed. Inside, he appeared pleasantly surprised by how uncrowded it was at that time of the day, along with the availability of seats.

“This is so clean. It even smells fresh,” he remarked while panning the camera around the coach. “There are so many seats, and hardly anyone is standing. It feels really modern.” He didn’t stop there. Comparing it to metro systems he’s used before, Porter said the Delhi Metro felt more comfortable than the London Underground.

“It’s air-conditioned, clean, modern, and really efficient. There are stations everywhere. Honestly, this might be one of the best metro systems I’ve been on,” he said. The video struck a chord with many Indian users online, who flooded the comments section with pride and mixed reactions. Several people thanked him for showing a positive side of India’s public transport and said the Delhi Metro reflects how much urban infrastructure has improved over the years. “Our metro systems are world-class now. Different cities, different vibes, but all improving fast. Do visit more places in India,” one user commented. Others had a more sarcastic take on internet trends. “This kind of video won’t go viral, but one clip showing overcrowding will be labelled as India and spread everywhere,” another user wrote. Some even encouraged him to explore more Indian cities. “Try the Mumbai Metro next and then talk about luxury,” one person suggested.
