Bhadrapada Amavasya 2025: Significance
For Hindus, Bhadrapada Amavasya holds an immense religious and spiritual significance.
In order to obtain the blessings of their ancestors or forefathers, people engage in a various puja ceremonies on this auspicious day. The most popular rituals are performing Pitru Tarpan and Pitru Puja. People invite priests or Brahmins to their homes and provide them with food, clothes, and dakshina. Many devotees visit sacred pilgrim sites where they can take a sacred dip in the Ganga River. Doing charity is seen as very fulfilling and rewarding.
On this sacred day, people feed ants, cows, dogs, and crows. Some people participate in religious and spiritual practices like meditation, chanting mantras, and hawan. According to the belief, people who have kaal sarpa dosha must perform puja on Bhadrapada Amavasya in order to get rid of this dosha.
Since Kaal Sarpa dosha also symbolizes past sins, one must perform puja on this day, which is revered for removing past sins.
