In efforts to boost terrorism in the national capital, the Delhi government is set to promote religious tourism and bhajan clubbing, providing a spiritual, cultural, and positive experience for Delhiites as well as domestic and international tourists.
Speaking during a private event held under Tourism Summit 2026 in Chennai, Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged globally as one of the most prominent domestic and international hubs for religious tourism.
“The aim now is to make Delhi a leading destination for Religious Tourism," he said, adding, “For this purpose, religiously significant routes will be developed in Delhi, enabling darshan of various religious sites through well-planned and organised pathways. This initiative will give a new direction to religious tourism."
He further stated that the beautiful tradition of Bhajan Clubbing is becoming increasingly popular among the youth. “Prime Minister has also praised bhajan and kirtan, calling them the soul of Indian culture. The Delhi Government will now take all necessary steps to promote this tradition across all age groups and sections of society," he added.
Mishra added that a landmark-focused approach will form the foundation of tourism development in Delhi. Major religious, historical, and cultural landmarks of the capital will be developed as focal points, along with modern amenities, improved connectivity, and experience-based tourism.
He said that tourism is also a major avenue for employment and career building, offering opportunities across sectors such as tour guiding, the hotel industry, travel operators, and aviation.
The Delhi Government will place special emphasis on establishing new educational institutions, training centres, and skill development programmes in the tourism sector, so that young people receive better opportunities and the social standing of tourism-related careers is further strengthened.
The Tourism Minister said that Delhi reflects the spirit of “Mini Bharat" due to its rich social and cultural diversity, adding that the capital showcases a blend of history and modernity and is home to nearly 1,200 Protected Monuments.
He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the capital is being developed as a world-class tourism destination.
