MET THROUGH DATING APP, LIVED TOGETHER IN BHOPAL

Police said Sameer and Misbah became acquainted through an online dating application. Misbah had reportedly been living with Sameer in a live-in relationship at his Bhopal residence since October 2025.

Officials said Sameer had introduced Misbah to his family as a friend. However, after Misbah started living in the house, Sameer’s wife objected to it and left for her parental home in Jabalpur.

DISPUTE OVER MARRIAGE AND MONEY

According to police, tensions between Sameer and Misbah had been escalating for some time. Sameer allegedly wanted to end the relationship, while Misbah was pressuring him to marry her. Police said disputes over money, including Misbah allegedly demanding compensation to separate, also contributed to frequent arguments between them. On the night of February 7–8, the arguments intensified, following which Sameer strangled Misbah to death.

Police said the accused kept the body inside the house for nearly 8 to 10 hours after the murder. He later informed his mother, brother and sister, who allegedly helped him dispose of the body. The family, police said, placed the body inside an iron box and hid it in the house for a day before dumping it into a nearby septic tank during the night.

Police have seized the iron box and arrested all four accused — Sameer, Sahil, Saima and Shehnaz B. Further investigation is underway.
