Surat: The textile entrepreneurs in the country’s largest man-made fibre (MMF) hub have heaved a sigh of relief as the Gujarat state finance department has released a total of Rs 1000 crore including a total fund of Rs 840 crore for payment of pending files of Surat textile industrialists under Gujarat Textile Policy-2019. Approximately more than 4500 relief claims of Surat textile industrialists were pending under the 2019 Textile Policy.
Giving more details about this, chartered accountant Rajiv Kapasiyawala said that the biggest relief news has come for the textile industrialists of Surat in the current difficult situation. A situation has been created for the industrialists of Surat that the pending cases of two schemes will be paid. The one is under the Gujarat Textile Policy-2019 and the other is under the Self-reliant Gujarat Scheme-2022, where the state government has allocated a total of Rs. 1000 crore for the beneficiaries of the industrialists from Surat city and district who were still waiting for the payment of the approved claims.
According to further details, under the Gujarat Government’s Textile Policy-2019, the textile industrialists of Surat will get a maximum interest subsidy of six percent on loans taken for capital investment as well as a relief in electricity tariff of Rs. 2 per unit for low tension connection and Rs. 2 per unit for high tension electricity connection.
Thousands of applications made by industrialists from Surat city district for subsidy of Rs. 3 were approved by the state government committee. But its payment was pending for the last many years. So far, the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and leaders of various organizations had made representations to the state government many times directly and indirectly to pay the pending subsidy money of the industrialists of Surat, but its payment was delayed. Recently, it has been reported that the state finance department has released a total amount of Rs. 840 crore and allocated it to the District Industry Center located in Surat.
Chartered Accountant Rajiv Kapasiyawala said that the state government has also released an amount of Rs. 162 crore under the Atmanirbhar Gujarat Yojana. The state government had a self-reliant Gujarat scheme for the users of micro,small and medium scale enterprises in the year 2022, in which many textile industrialists of Surat became beneficiaries and their claims were approved, but the payment was pending, now with the release of Rs. 162 crore, the payment will also start in phases.
