For the first time since joining the FATF in 2010, India will hold the post of vice president in the international body that sets standards to combat illicit financial activities.
Vivek Aggarwal, currently serving as Union Culture Secretary, was elected to the role during the FATF plenary meeting held in Paris on Friday. He will serve in the role from July 2026 to June 2027, taking over from Giles Thomson of the United Kingdom, who has held the post since July 2025.
