Bigg Boss 16 fame Ankit Gupta recently opened up about a major lifestyle change that stemmed from a serious health scare. During filmmaker Farah Khan’s visit to his home for her cooking vlog, Ankit surprised everyone when he said he had turned vegetarian.
Farah, who had planned to cook ‘Tawa Chicken’, was taken aback, but Ankit assured her, “I’ve turned vegetarian, but will eat chicken since you’re making it.”Explaining the reason behind this shift, Ankit shared, “I didn’t turn vegetarian for any religious reasons. I had a gastric and panic attack for which I was hospitalised. I am on a program and show what I am eating through the day. I also show what I am drinking.”Opening up about the terrifying experience, he added, “You feel breathlessness, BP shoots up and you just feel you cannot breathe.”
The incident pushed him to become more mindful of his lifestyle and diet, resulting in his transition to a vegetarian routine.Reflecting on his journey into Bigg Boss, Ankit shared that it was not a planned move. “I didn’t choose to be on Bigg Boss. I was sent to the show. I was doing Udaariyaan and Sargun (the producer) said they were wrapping it up but had another show for me titled Junooniyatt. That would take 3-4 months to begin.”
Ankit further revealed how he was presented with limited options at the time. “The makers said they had three options—Khatron Ke Khiladi had already started, Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa was on but not meant for me, and the last option was Bigg Boss. A lot of negotiations happened. Three to four weeks went into just discussions.”Despite the sudden entry, his time on Bigg Boss brought him recognition and a loyal fan base.
