Bihar: 4 Teen Girls Die By Consuming Poison After Parents Scold Them For Mingling With Boys

Four teenage girls in Bihar’s Aurangabad district died after allegedly consuming poison following a scolding from their parents for mingling with boys, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on January 29 in a Dalit settlement under Haspura police station. Five girls, aged between 10 and 14 years, reportedly took a poisonous substance together in a field. Four of them died, while one girl survived and later informed her family about the incident. The surviving girl was hospitalised and is now out of danger.

Aurangabad Superintendent of Police, Ambrish Rahul, said, “According to the statement of the surviving girl, they had decided to consume a poisonous substance after being scolded by their family members for mingling with a group of boys."

Daudnagar SDPO Ashok Kumar Das added that the investigation is ongoing. “At this stage, we only have the statement of the surviving girl… We have not been able to ascertain the involvement of any other person in the case," he said.

The girls were cremated on the same day on January 29, two days before the police received information about the incident.

Family members of one of the deceased told reporters that the girls had gone out to play, and villagers later informed them that their daughters had been found dead together in a nearby field.
