Bihar Diwas 2026 celebrations are set to dazzle from March 22-24 at Gandhi Maidan, featuring a star-studded lineup. Sona Mohapatra and Shaan will perform, with Papon closing the event. The festival also includes classical music, dance, poetry, and local artist showcases, alongside educational and heritage pavilions.
Patna: Education department secretary Dinesh Kumar on Tuesday inspected preparations for the three-day Bihar Diwas 2026 celebrations scheduled to begin on March 22 at Gandhi Maidan.
Kumar directed officials to complete all arrangements within the deadline.The celebration will begin on Sunday with a performance of singer and music composer Sona Mohapatra’s performance at Gandhi Maidan.Other programmes lined up for the celebration are Pandit Jagat Narayan Pathak’s Dhrupad singing at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall; Odissi dance by Raminder Khurana and contemporary dance by Prachi Pallavi Sahu.
Rabindra Bhawan will host folk songs by Kamlesh Kumar Singh and a performance of Bhikhari Thakur’s “Gabarghichor”.On March 23, famous singer Shaan will perform at the Gandhi Maidan. Sudipa Ghosh will present a dance-drama based on “Buddhacharita” at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall. Surendra Sharma will lead a poetry session at Rabindra Bhawan, where the play “Vaijayanti” will also be staged.On the concluding day—March 24— Angaraag Mahanta, better known as Papon, playback singer, composer, and producer from Assam, will perform atthe Gandhi Maidan.
Additional chief secretary N Vijaya Lakshmi will perform Bharatnatyam at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, besides folk songs will be sung by Chandan Tiwari and a “Miracle on Wheels” will be presented by Pasha. Alok Raj will host a ghazal and mushaira event at Rabindra Bhawan.Throughout the festival, local artists and street theatre groups will perform at the cultural pavilion from 10am to 5pm daily. The venue will include an education pavilion featuring demonstrations by students, a book fair, and a food court. The tourism and other govt departments will also set up stalls showcasing the state’s heritage.
