Biker injured in hit-and-run succumbs at hospital after 24 hrs in ICU, FIR against unidentified vehicle driver

Navi Mumbai: A 27-year-old man from Takigaon in Dighode, Uran taluka, who was grievously injured in a hit-and-run incident by an unidentified vehicle while riding his bike along the Chirner-Gavhan phata road on Saturday, July 11, around 11 pm, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital on Sunday around 9 pm.

The deceased was identified as Mrunal Joshi.The Panvel City police on Monday registered an FIR against the driver of the vehicle by invoking relevant BNS sections and Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving causing death and escaping without providing medical assistance and not informing the police about the accident.API Meenakshi Mali of Panvel City police station said, "Joshi was returning home from work when he met with the fatal accident. An FIR was registered on Monday as the complainant Sudarshan Joshi (29), who is the deceased's paternal uncle, came to the police station after two days. The family members were busy attending to Joshi, who was unconscious in the ICU. Meanwhile, the nature of the accident has yet not been ]ascertained.
