Unidentified assailants opened fire outside the house of Gurpartap Singh Kang, manager of Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, in Gonder village of Haryana’s Karnal district. Two empty cartridges were found at the spot on Wednesday morning, sources said. However, the Haryana Police has remained tight-lipped over the incident.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the firing through a social media post allegedly issued by Tyson Bishnoi, Aarzoo Bishnoi, and Hari Boxer.
In the post, the gang claimed that Austria-made weapons were used in the firing. The message described the incident as the “third warning” to Diljit Dosanjh and his managers, Sonali and Gurpartap Singh Kang. The gang claimed it had earlier sent two warnings to the singer and his team.
The post alleged that a member of Diljit Dosanjh’s team had exploited and harassed women during the singer’s Australia tour. It accused the employee of misleading a woman with false promises and later blocking her after she allegedly became pregnant. The gang further claimed that it had received complaints from other women regarding alleged inappropriate behaviour by the same person during the tour.
The social media message said that the gang had not demanded extortion money or sought financial gain from the singer or his team. Instead, it claimed that the warnings were intended to pressure Diljit Dosanjh and his managers to distance themselves from the accused employee.
The post further threatened the singer and his associates, warning them of “consequences” if action was not taken. It claimed the gang had a global network and said they would “cause damage” if their warning was ignored.
Meanwhile, Punjab’s AAP government targeted the BJP-led Haryana government over the incident. Senior AAP leader and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema reacted to the firing and questioned the law and order situation in Haryana.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also raised questions over the incident through a post on X, seeking answers on those behind the firing. Harpal Singh Cheema also posted reactions on the social media platform.
However, Haryana Police intelligence officials have maintained that the matter is still under investigation. According to top officials speaking off record, there are currently no eyewitnesses to the alleged firing incident. Residents of the village also reportedly told police that they did not hear any gunshots during the night.
