BITS student dies in road accident, another critical

Vasco: A student of Birla Institute of Science and Technology (BITS) Pilani, KK Birla Goa campus, Zuarinagar, Sancoale died on the spot, while another is in critical state. The motorcycle on which they were travelling rammed into a empty fuel tanker on the four lane highway near Zuarinagar, Sancoale on Saturday evening.The accident was reported at around 6.30 pm, when the deceased, identified as Karan Narsimha Murthy, 25, was heading towards Queeny Nagar, Sancoale from BITS Pilani campus along with his friend, Sohan Adhikari, 25, who was riding the pillion.However, when they reached opposite the petroleum storage tanks at Zuarinagar, Sancoale, their bike collided into an empty fuel tanker, which was entering the petroleum terminus.

Despite wearing a helmet, Murthy sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. The pillion rider has also sustained grievous injuries and has been shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim.Further investigations are in progress under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar.
