BJP begins strategy push for 2027 Goa assembly polls

Panaji: BJP national general secretary (organisation) B L Santosh on Sunday held a meeting with BJP MLAs and ministers to assess the political situation in Goa and discuss the party’s strategy for the 2027 assembly elections. The MLAs briefed Santosh on the political scenario in their constituencies and shared suggestions on how the party could maximise its tally in the next assembly polls. Some legislators raised concerns over growing groupism within the party, with multiple aspirants staking claim to tickets and creating confusion among BJP karyakartas. The MLAs told Santosh that the party must remain united and fight the next assembly elections collectively to ensure victory.Health minister Vishwajit Rane said the discussion focused on the upcoming elections and the roadmap to bring the BJP back to power in Goa. He said Santosh guided party leaders on strengthening the organisation and preparing for the polls. “I will work for the party,” Rane said.PWD minister Digambar Kamat also met Santosh, who enquired about the completion timeline of the six-lane flyover at Porvorim. With the assembly elections about six months away, the Goa BJP has begun its pre-poll exercise by conducting an internal winnability survey across all 40 constituencies. The preliminary findings indicate that nearly half of the 20 seats in North Goa are vulnerable.

The BJP, which remains the dominant political force in North Goa with 17 of the region’s 20 MLAs in its fold, has found that anti-incumbency, the performance of some legislators and weakening grassroots connect have made several seats susceptible.
