BJP holds key meet in Cachar, focuses on booth-level campaign

Silchar: With Assam assembly elections just weeks away, BJP has stepped up its organisational push in Cachar district, putting sharp focus on booth-level mobilisation and grassroots coordination.The party held a key organisational meeting to fine-tune its poll strategy at its district office in Silchar on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh Kavita Patidar, senior leader Nitya Bhushan De and other office bearers.Discussions centred on election preparedness, organisational strengthening and future action plans, with leaders stressing the need to further streamline the party’s structure at the grassroots.

Improving coordination among booth-level workers was identified as a priority to maximise voter outreach in the run-up to polling.Addressing party workers, Patidar urged cadres to intensify campaigning at the booth level, describing it as the backbone of any successful election strategy. Patidar, who is also BJP’s in-charge for Cachar district elections, underlined that sustained door-to-door outreach and effective communication with voters would be crucial in consolidating the party’s support base.

Party leaders said the decisions taken at the meeting would play a significant role in strengthening BJP’s organisational base in Cachar.Cachar district sends seven MLAs to the Assam Assembly. At present, BJP holds four seats — Silchar (Dipayan Chakraborty), Dholai (Nihar Ranjan Das, SC), Udharbond (Mihir Kanti Shome) and Lakhipur (Kaushik Rai). The remaining three constituencies are with rival parties: Sonai is held by AIUDF’s Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, while Barkhola and Katigorah are represented by Congress MLAs Misbahul Islam Laskar and Khalil Uddin Mazumder, respectively.
