BJP marks International Yoga Day with event in Vijayawada

The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed International Yoga Day with enthusiasm at the party office in Vijayawada on Sunday (June 21, 2026).

Party leaders, office-bearers, and activists participated in a 45-minute yoga session, performing the asanas suggested as part of the protocol. The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP State general secretary Nagothu Ramesh Naidu stated that yoga should become an integral part of daily life, as it offers an effective solution to several health-related problems. He observed that regular practice of yoga can bring about a complete transformation in an individual’s lifestyle, while meditation helps achieve mental peace and emotional balance.

Mr. Ramesh Naidu credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking yoga to the global stage and making it a worldwide movement. He expressed confidence that India would attain the status of a “Vishwaguru” by promoting its rich cultural and spiritual heritage, including yoga.

Among those who participated in the programme were BJP State organising general secretary N. Madhukar, State general secretary Matta Prasad, NTR district president Adduri Sriram, State vice-president Bitra Siva Narayana, State media in-charge Kilari Dileep, State spokesperson Yamini Sharma, State general secretary Boddu Nagalakshmi, Chaitanya Sharma, Ratna Kumari, and NTR district Yuva Morcha president G. Siva Krishna Reddy.

The organisers felicitated yoga coordinator K. Muralikrishna Raju in recognition of his efforts in conducting the event.
