Bhopal: The BJP on Tuesday strongly rejected allegations made by the Congress regarding land transactions allegedly linked to chief minister Mohan Yadav and his family, describing them as baseless and politically motivated. In a statement, BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal said the allegations levelled by the opposition were “completely false” and aimed at creating confusion among the public. He asserted that there was no truth in the claims being made against the chief minister.Khandelwal said records submitted with Yadav’s nomination papers in 2023 showed that the chief minister owned 17 acres of land at the time and that there was no change in the holding till 2026.
He also claimed that the land owned by the chief minister’s wife, Seema Yadav, remained unchanged during the same period.Referring to one of the companies mentioned in the allegations, Khandelwal said its landholding had reduced over the years and added that Yadav resigned from its board of directors in 2017, much before assuming the office of chief minister. The BJP leader further claimed that there was no increase in land owned by the chief minister’s son after Yadav became chief minister.
He said agricultural land purchased by the chief minister’s daughter-in-law was located outside the master plan area and maintained that relatives named in the allegations had no connection with the chief minister’s affairs.Khandelwal accused the Congress of attempting to malign the image of a leader from the Other Backward Classes community. He alleged that whenever BJP leaders from the OBC community rose to prominent positions in the state, they became targets of political attacks.Claiming that the Congress was unable to challenge the BJP govt’s development agenda, Khandelwal said the opposition resorted to what he described as a conspiracy to weaken a popular chief minister. He added that the people of Madhya Pradesh would not be misled by such allegations. The BJP statement came hours after Congress leaders demanded an independent probe into alleged land transactions in and around Ujjain.
