BJP to launch public service, ‘swadeshi’ campaigns starting on PM’s birthday

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise events across the country during the ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ to be observed beginning September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The programme will include a public awareness campaign to promote local goods as part of the initiatives to achieve the goal of a developed India.

At a press conference by Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal, the party said it would organise ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2, the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. It will focus on service, cleanliness, self-reliance, and nation-building.

Under this initiative, activities such as blood donation camps, health check-up camps, cleanliness drives, environmental protection campaigns, exhibitions, dialogue programmes, distribution of assistive devices to persons with disabilities, ‘Modi Vikas Marathon’, sports festivals, and drawing competitions will be held.

On September 25, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Viksit Bharat’ campaign will be launched to promote local products and it will continue till December 25, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

“Whether as Prime Minister or during his tenure as Chief Minister, Mr. Modi has consistently reached out to people during every disaster, crisis, and pandemic with a spirit of service, inspiring citizens. His clear vision has been that politics should not be limited to criticism and allegations but should serve as a means to alleviate the sufferings of the common people and bring positive changes to their lives,” said Mr. Yadav.

Reached the grassroots: party

The BJP leader said under Mr. Modi’s leadership, welfare schemes for the poor have reached the grassroots level. “The use of technology in governance has established transparency, and alongside a spirit of service, the entire country has embraced the grand mantra of cleanliness...access to clean water is being ensured even in remote rural areas, and every citizen is being provided with dignified sanitation facilities. This is the result of the sensitivity and vision of the respected Prime Minister,” said the Union Minister.

“Focusing on service, creativity, and dedication in the political sphere, the BJP has decided to observe the period from the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, that is, until October 2, as the Sewa Pakhwada,” said Mr. Bansal, adding that the party, the Union government, and all State governments will jointly conduct a variety of activities.

He said distinguished members of society will be felicitated and 771 dialogue events will be held across all States during the events. The ‘Modi Vikas Marathon’ will be organised in over 75 major cities on September 21 morning, connecting the youth with the “national resolutions such as Viksit Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and Drug-Free India”.

“Registration for the sports festival began on August 29, and its formal inauguration under the Sewa Pakhwada will be on September 21. The campaign will continue across the country until December and January. Lok Sabha MPs will organise various sports competitions in their respective constituencies, while Rajya Sabha MPs will do so in the Lok Sabha constituencies allocated to them,” he said.
