BJP turning Delhi into garbage capital: AAP begins 'Kaam Kabaada' campaign

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday hit out at the Rekha Gupta government, accusing the BJP of turning Delhi into a "garbage capital." The party shared videos of overflowing dumpyards spilling onto the streets across the national capital.

“The BJP’s Vipda government has turned Delhi into the garbage capital in just seven months,” AAP said in a post on X, sharing visuals from several parts of the city, including Kotla, Paharganj and Greater Kailash among others.

On Thursday, AAP launched a campaign called 'Kaam Kabaada, Kaisa Seva Pakhwada', alleging the city's waste management crisis has worsened under the current administration.

Under the campaign, AAP councillors will upload daily photos and videos showing garbage accumulation from different areas of the city on Facebook, X, and Instagram to spotlight what it describes as the failures of the BJP government in addressing Delhi's waste management, the statement from the party said.

"We want to tell them (BJP leaders), first do your work, then put up a drama of 'seva'. I also appeal to the people of Delhi to make videos of garbage littered in their areas and share them on social media," AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

The campaign calls on citizens to document and share instances of littering in their neighbourhoods, seeking to involve the public in drawing attention to sanitation concerns and holding authorities accountable.

Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House Ankush Narang posted evidence of garbage piles in Timarpur, North Delhi, on social media.

"Their so-called campaign of 'Delhi ko kude se azadi (freedom from garbage)' turned out to be a big lie. The reality is that the streets of Delhi are littered with garbage," he said.
