At least 11 people were killed and around 30 others injured in a bomb blast in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta on Tuesday, according to a report by Reuters. The explosion occurred in the parking area outside a rally organised to mark the anniversary of the death of a prominent nationalist leader.

Government official Hamza Shafaat confirmed the incident and stated that the rally had just concluded when the bomb detonated. Among the attendees was Sardar Akhtar Mengal, son of the late leader being commemorated. He and other key participants were reported to be unharmed.

Police official Athar Rasheed indicated that initial evidence suggests the explosion was the result of a suicide bombing. Authorities have launched a full investigation, though no group has yet claimed responsibility.

The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in Balochistan province, where separatist and extremist violence has remained a persistent threat.
